Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development

March 2010

The first Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development (GCARD) 2010 will be held in Montpellier, France from 28-31 March 2010.

It is an initiative by the Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR), which was established in 1998 to bring together all the actors involved in determining the future of agricultural research.

GFAR mobilizes partners from science and society to reform and strengthen research and extension systems around the world, to increase their impact. It represents stakeholders including: national and regional agricultural research and extension systems, UN Agencies, the international Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research Centres,  funding agencies and organisations representing farmers, the private sector and civil society.

GFAR is currently leading an effort to consult globally to inform reform processes underway in the agricultural research and development sectors. It represents a valuable and unique opportunity to influence all the stakeholders to work towards collective, inclusive action and commitment and drive a common vision for agricultural development for future generations.
